甲烷可燃性氣體的氣爆範圍

地下湧出之甲烷可與空氣混合稀釋，濃度逐漸降低而達爆炸濃度，但一經稀釋即不可能再濃縮。甲烷濃度低於 5% 或高於 15.4% 時，火源周圍會出現藍色火焰與黑煙，不會延伸至其他地方，亦不會產生爆炸。甲烷之濃度在 5~15.4% 之範圍內時，如遇火源時，則因其存在狀態之不同而可能產生燃燒或爆炸狀態。如圖 3.1 所示，甲烷產生氣爆之危險性較高之濃度範圍為 5~15.4% 。當甲烷之濃度超過 5% ，隨濃度增加其燃燒速度逐漸增大、爆炸性亦增大，於 9.5% 時因完全燃燒而使爆炸威力達最大之狀態。甲烷之濃度超過 15.4% 時，由於空氣中之氧氣濃度亦變薄，逐漸不易燃燒。
